A marathon swim race, downriver in the North Saskatchewan, from the West Anthony Henday bridge to the East Anthony Henday bridge.Â
Racers will swim, float, or wade the 38km from start to finish, but must stay in the water at all times! Each racer will be provided with a GPS tracker for live positioning throughout the race.
Each racer will be required to have a support paddler that stays in close proximity at all times. The support paddler will be able to provide hydration and nutrition to the racer, but will not be able to provide assistance in advancing forward down the course. The paddler will be provided with a radio for emergency assistance.
Racers and support paddlers will meet at the East Anthony Henday Bridge finishing area at 8:00 a.m. for loading and transport to the start area. To get to the finishing area, take the Aurum Road exit off of the Anthony Henday and head west. Turn right on to Meridian Street NW and follow until the gravel parking lot.
Racing will begin at 9:00 a.m. with an air horn and all athletes passing between two start buoys. The race is complete once the athlete passes between the two finish buoys under the East Anthony Henday Bridge.
